Heritage Project

We wanted to let you know of a great project that we will be starting: In may we will be having a cultural heritage activity for our relief society activity.  We would like to put together a spiritual heritage book for our relief society sisters, even though we are celebrating the cultural diversity of our sisters in May we want to emphasize that it is our spiritual heritage that binds us together in our sisterhood so we would like to ask you to provide us with any personal testimonies or personal experiences/ stories, poems or  thoughts on how you have developed your spiritual heritage and what it means to you. We would like to collect them and put them in a book to be given to each sister at a later time we realize that it will require more time to collect and put together this project so if you would like to participate, please send me by email: alexwixom@gmail.com your contribution, if you would like to handwrite it that is fine as well, Please be neat so we can read it. We will start now to collect these items, we are hoping to have it ready for you for our next r.s birthday event in March 2014 so from time to time I will be issuing reminders to please send me your contributions.

thank you sisters

March R.S Activity Update

Relief Society Activity Tuesday March 12, 2013 at 19h at the Ward Building
Sisters, Please bring your favorite vegetable dish or fruit dish, cold or hot, if possible use seasonal fruits or vegetables but it is not necessary. Please make one dish to feed at least 4-6 people. Here are some ideas: veggie platters or fruit platters, desserts that have fruit, salads with fruits or vegetables. warm side dishes or main dishes with vegetables or fruits. Just have fun with it. You will be amazed how many dishes can be made with just vegetables: like vegetarian chili, soups etc.

We will have a beautiful cake to celebrate the R.S birthday

also please remember the kitchen is small so please bring your dish ready to eat, also if you are just bringing cold veggies and fruit make sure they are cut as well. there just is not enough room to accomodate many sisters heating up their dishes, cutting veggies etc. sorry. Don't forget to bring a serving utensil with your dish due to the lack of serving utensils at the church. Please remember to take your dishes home after the activity.

We will be doing some small service projects that night nothing difficult or hard but you may be cleaning toys and using glue maybe even using some paint so please either wear appropriate attire for that or bring an apron etc.

We are trying to start on time(19h) as a goal this year so please make every effort to be on time with your dishes. The church will be open at 6:30pm. We also need some helpers to assist us in cleaning up and arranging chairs etc. If you are able to stay, we would also appreciate it

Thank YOU!

one last thing: We love you and the effort you put in attending and supporting these activities. I appreciate all of the wonderful help and beautiful dishes sisters prepare and I love tasting them. Please know we are eternally grateful to each of you for your commitment and we recognize the difficulty of managing work schedules and family life to attend. WE hope you will enjoy this night and also feel the spirit of service that can help us feel closer to the Savior. If you have any questions please contact me thru email: alexwixom@gmail.com or by phone +(49) (0)24565087597

How to cope with economic stress

We Can Learn to Cope with Economic Stress
Elder Faust has suggested the following ways to help people cope
with economic stress:
1.  Seek first the kingdom of God. This includes payment of tithes and
a generous fast offering, loving our neighbor as ourselves (see
James 2:8), and keeping the other commandments. Elder Faust
explained: "Spiritual strength comes from many sources,
including personal prayer, the study of the scriptures, and the
willingness to 'submit to all things . . . the Lord seeth fit to
inflict' (Mosiah 3:19)" (in Conference Report, Oct. 1982, p. 130;
or Ensign, Nov. 1982, p. 89).
2.  Solidify family strengths and resources. To become unified, families
should pray together, budget money together, hold family
councils, store a year's supply of necessities, organize the
family, and maintain an eternal perspective rather than
concentrating on worldly possessions and wealth.
3.  Exercise faith. (See Mark 9:23 and D&C 90:24.) "A belief that 'all
these things shall give thee experience, and . . .  be for thy good'
is like a spiritual stabilizer (D&C 122:7)" (James E. Faust, in
Conference Report, Oct. 1982, p. 130; or Ensign, Nov. 1982,
p. 90).
4.  Be adaptable in your work. Be willing to learn new, marketable
skills.
5.  Avoid debt.
6.  Reduce expense. "When there is limited money available, it is
easier to teach children the wise use of money, including the
need to save for the future," said Elder Faust. (In Conference
Report, Oct. 1982, p. 130; or Ensign, Nov. 1982, p. 90.)

Compassionate Service thought:
Henry B. Eyring General R.S Conference September 2012
"Caring for those in need takes a team, a loving and unified society. That is what the Lord is building among you. He loves you for any part you play. …
The Lord, who is the Master Nurturer of people in need, gave inspired counsel to weary caregivers in these words delivered by King Benjamin and recorded in the Book of Mormon: “For the sake of retaining a remission of your sins … I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.” …
And you have seen, as I have, a wise visiting teacher build the confidence in a struggling sister that her service to someone else, even as she is failing, is still needed and valuable. Great Relief Society presidents find ways to let those who need care help in the care of others. They create opportunities for sisters to endure trials well as they care for each other in the pure love of Christ. …
We speak often of the strength of the circle of sisters in the Church of Jesus Christ. We must learn to recognize that the Savior is always in the circle as we invite Him."
