missionaries
Sisters let us not forget we have sister missionaries among us who are very lovely ladies and they need our help in moving the work forward in this area. You can help in many ways, by feeding them and having them share a message with you, but most importantly by opening your home so that investigators may be taught there. You can also set up time to go with the sisters and visit investigators in their home as well. However you can help, Please contact them to lend a helping hand

Relief Society Activities
Sisters,
As you are aware we took a break during the summer months from our activities and are now in full motion for the rest of the year.
Due to the length of our activities in the past we feel we need to make some changes to make sure that all of our sisters can enjoy the main part of our activities
With that in mind, we will be having our visiting teaching conference in September entitled: "If the Savior stood beside me.." based on a primary and youth song: This evening will be filled with music and spiritual thoughts because we want all of our sisters to see and feel the spirit of the program we are going to have the program at the beginning of our activity. We would like all of our sisters to attend. The program will run about 45 minutes. We would like to start on time at exactly 19h. the dinner will follow the program for those who can stay and eat and socialize, this we hope will help in accommodating our sisters who have young families to attend or have babysitters or even those who have long distances to travel. We would love for all of our sisters to attend this lovely event and hope this will help with that. In order for this night to be successful we ask all of you sisters to make a special effort to be on time since the program will start first. We thank you all for your support and are always happy to help in any way possible.

Missionary work
Sisters, we are blessed to have sister missionaries here. Please take the time to review this questionnaire and determine how you can best assist the missionaries in their efforts. If you cannot provide your home for teaching purposes and for fellowshipping, you may also go on splits with the sisters if that is the best way you can assist them. Please return these questionnaires to the sisters or to myself(Sister Wixom) thank you for your support.
Click here to get a printable copy of the member missionary questionnaire.

Member missionary Questionnaire
Heerlen Ward Member Missionary Questionnaire
In an effort to help our missionaries get to know the families in our ward better we would like you to fill out this short survey. This can be used as a tool by the missionaries to help connect their investigators with those they feel would be good people to fellowship them. Thank you for your time and your missionary efforts.
Family Name:
Names and ages of children:
What languages do you speak?
Is anyone in your home a convert to the church (who, and at what age did they join)?
Did you serve a mission (where)?
Please list some of the talents/hobbies/activities your family enjoys:
(some examples: art, sports, instruments played, cooking, family history, sewing, car repairs, computers, etc.)
Do you have extra space and would you be willing, if called upon, to give an investigator a ride to church?
Is there a night of the week that your family would be willing to commit (for 2-3 months at a time) and reserve as a “Family Missionary Night”? (This means you would keep this night open and offer your home as a place where the missionaries could bring investigators to be taught. If possible, it may also include offering a ride to the missionaries and/or their investigator. Even better would be if you also provided the investigator. If the missionaries do not need you on a particular week we recommend you still use that as a night to have discussion, scripture study, or some other kind of missionary themed activity with your family)
What night of the week can you commit to reserve:

Heritage Project
We wanted to let you know of a great project that we will be starting: In may we will be having a cultural heritage activity for our relief society activity. We would like to put together a spiritual heritage book for our relief society sisters, even though we are celebrating the cultural diversity of our sisters in May we want to emphasize that it is our spiritual heritage that binds us together in our sisterhood so we would like to ask you to provide us with any personal testimonies or personal experiences/ stories, poems or thoughts on how you have developed your spiritual heritage and what it means to you. We would like to collect them and put them in a book to be given to each sister at a later time we realize that it will require more time to collect and put together this project so if you would like to participate, please send me by email: alexwixom@gmail.com your contribution, if you would like to handwrite it that is fine as well, Please be neat so we can read it. We will start now to collect these items, we are hoping to have it ready for you for our next r.s birthday event in March 2014 so from time to time I will be issuing reminders to please send me your contributions.
thank you sisters

March R.S Activity Update
Relief Society Activity Tuesday March 12, 2013 at 19h at the Ward Building
Sisters, Please bring your favorite vegetable dish or fruit dish, cold or hot, if possible use seasonal fruits or vegetables but it is not necessary. Please make one dish to feed at least 4-6 people. Here are some ideas: veggie platters or fruit platters, desserts that have fruit, salads with fruits or vegetables. warm side dishes or main dishes with vegetables or fruits. Just have fun with it. You will be amazed how many dishes can be made with just vegetables: like vegetarian chili, soups etc.
We will have a beautiful cake to celebrate the R.S birthday
also please remember the kitchen is small so please bring your dish ready to eat, also if you are just bringing cold veggies and fruit make sure they are cut as well. there just is not enough room to accomodate many sisters heating up their dishes, cutting veggies etc. sorry. Don't forget to bring a serving utensil with your dish due to the lack of serving utensils at the church. Please remember to take your dishes home after the activity.
We will be doing some small service projects that night nothing difficult or hard but you may be cleaning toys and using glue maybe even using some paint so please either wear appropriate attire for that or bring an apron etc.
We are trying to start on time(19h) as a goal this year so please make every effort to be on time with your dishes. The church will be open at 6:30pm. We also need some helpers to assist us in cleaning up and arranging chairs etc. If you are able to stay, we would also appreciate it
Thank YOU!
one last thing: We love you and the effort you put in attending and supporting these activities. I appreciate all of the wonderful help and beautiful dishes sisters prepare and I love tasting them. Please know we are eternally grateful to each of you for your commitment and we recognize the difficulty of managing work schedules and family life to attend. WE hope you will enjoy this night and also feel the spirit of service that can help us feel closer to the Savior. How to cope with economic stress
We Can Learn to Cope with Economic Stress
Elder Faust has suggested the following ways to help people cope
with economic stress:
1. Seek first the kingdom of God. This includes payment of tithes and
a generous fast offering, loving our neighbor as ourselves (see
James 2:8), and keeping the other commandments. Elder Faust
explained: "Spiritual strength comes from many sources,
including personal prayer, the study of the scriptures, and the
willingness to 'submit to all things . . . the Lord seeth fit to
inflict' (Mosiah 3:19)" (in Conference Report, Oct. 1982, p. 130;
or Ensign, Nov. 1982, p. 89).
2. Solidify family strengths and resources. To become unified, families
should pray together, budget money together, hold family
councils, store a year's supply of necessities, organize the
family, and maintain an eternal perspective rather than
concentrating on worldly possessions and wealth.
3. Exercise faith. (See Mark 9:23 and D&C 90:24.) "A belief that 'all
these things shall give thee experience, and . . . be for thy good'
is like a spiritual stabilizer (D&C 122:7)" (James E. Faust, in
Conference Report, Oct. 1982, p. 130; or Ensign, Nov. 1982,
p. 90).
4. Be adaptable in your work. Be willing to learn new, marketable
skills.
5. Avoid debt.
6. Reduce expense. "When there is limited money available, it is
easier to teach children the wise use of money, including the
need to save for the future," said Elder Faust. (In Conference
Report, Oct. 1982, p. 130; or Ensign, Nov. 1982, p. 90.)
Compassionate Service thought:
Henry B. Eyring General R.S Conference September 2012
"Caring for those in need takes a team, a loving and unified society. That is what the Lord is building among you. He loves you for any part you play. …
The Lord, who is the Master Nurturer of people in need, gave inspired counsel to weary caregivers in these words delivered by King Benjamin and recorded in the Book of Mormon: “For the sake of retaining a remission of your sins … I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.” …
And you have seen, as I have, a wise visiting teacher build the confidence in a struggling sister that her service to someone else, even as she is failing, is still needed and valuable. Great Relief Society presidents find ways to let those who need care help in the care of others. They create opportunities for sisters to endure trials well as they care for each other in the pure love of Christ. …
We speak often of the strength of the circle of sisters in the Church of Jesus Christ. We must learn to recognize that the Savior is always in the circle as we invite Him."

Stake Relief Society Event
This is the email sent from stake relief society president regarding the stake relief society event which will be held on Saturday March 16 at 10am in Antwerpen.
This is the program for the 16th:
We open together at 10. Before 10 you can pick you're classes. There are 2 classes you can choose. I hope to introduce my new counselors during the opening...
After the opening there will be time for speed-dating. We'll all have a sticker on our shirts with the languages we're able to communicate in. So no one will have no dates!
After the speed-dating will split up in different groups. The classes are presided by sisters with a lot of experience. But many sisters have experience, so the thought is to share you're ideas and experiences so you can help other sisters. All based on Faith, Hope and Love. In every class will be a sister that can translate to English and dutch.
The subjects are:
"I'm an only member", for sisters that have non or inactive familymembers.
"mom of young children"
"mom of teenagers"
"a healthy lifestyle"
"living with a handicap" for sisters that have familymembers with a handicap our having a handicap themselves.
"hallelujah" a class were you can learn a song with only one word 'hallelujah' (easy for all languages)
These classes will last about 30 min. And than the sisters can go to there second class. After the classes there will be time for the closing end. The sisters who can sing the song "hallelujah" are invited to sing it for us all. And we'll end with the lunch.
For the sisters who don't have a husband / mother in law / neighbor, there will be babysit.
The girls who take care of the kids like to know how many kids they can expect and what ages.
Hopefully you can make the sisters in Heerlen enthusiastic. It will be a spiritual feast.
Love Annemarie!
